The courts are available for general play for members 7 days a week until 10pm. You can book a court via our online booking system where you will be able to see which courts are available. If you play in the evening you can buy floodlight tokens from The Catherine Wheel and Central Stores at £2 for each 30 minute token. When you join the club you will be issued with a key to the courts and a key to the clubhouse in return for a £5 deposit.
You can book a court here but if you are new to the club and don't know how to book a court go to our "How to Book a Court" page in the navigation bar under "More"
If you are on a mobile there is a Clubspark Booker App that you can download
We offer 2 Adult Club sessions:
Tuesday evenings from 6.30 - 8.30
Balls and floodlight tokens are provided and a mix in format is followed which suits all standards of play. Just turn up and join in.
There is a Junior Club session for Secondary School aged children on Wednesday evenings
from 6.00pm - 7.00pm
3 or 4 times a year we try and run social tournaments for adult members that are just for fun and for all levels of play. Refreshments are provided for a small donation and to cater for different commitments we try and vary the dates to include a Saturday, Sunday and a weeknight.
While Marshfield is a members club you can play with non member guests where a guest fee of £2 per adult or £1 per child is payable. Guests must play with, or be accompanied by a Club member and the member is responsible for collecting the guest fees. Up to 3 guests may play with a member at any one time and any guests may play at the Club up to 5 times a year.
Fees should be paid in to the box under the sink in the envelopes provided. Please name the envelope with the member and guests names and date and complete the Guest Book in the Clubhouse.
Parents of junior or mini members may play with their child (only) without charge.
Head Coach Sam Hull runs Singles and Doubles boxes throughout the year. If you would like to play in the ladders contact Sam by e-mail sam@connect2sportscoaching.co.uk
You can see the current ladders online via these links:

Players can play in more than one team in any one competition so you may see someone's name appear in more than one team squad, eg. for Womens A & B teams, but once they have played 3 matches for a higher team they can not play for a lower team that season. Similarly a player may not play for two teams in the same competition in the same week, eg a player cannot play in the Mens B team and the C team in the same week.
The leagues are a great way to play some more competitive tennis against different opposition and visit some other tennis clubs. Matches are generally friendly as well and hard fought and in the past teams would enjoy a meal or tea afterwards hosted by the home team. This practice has not been re-adopted since Covid, but at Marshfield teams will often bring drinks and snacks along to share with their opposition after a home match. There are nominal match fees to pay for taking part to cover the cost of lights and new tennis balls; the tennis balls then go into circulation for use on club nights.
Matches generally take place on Monday , Wednesday and Friday nights (different teams play on different nights) starting at 6:30pm with teams expected to arrive by 6:15 to warm up, ready to start play on time. Typically matches last 2 hours+. If you are interested in playing, speak to one of the team captains, or email the club to find out more.
The Club has a ball machine for members to use.
This is available to all members aged 16 or over free of charge and can be used for 30 minute periods of time. There is no need to book it out but you will need to book a court to use it in the same way as usual.
However before you use it for the first time we request that you receive some instruction on how to use it. This will often be available from a committee member at any of our Club sessions on a Saturday afternoon from 2pm - 4pm, on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 or at one of Sams drop in sessions on a Saturday morning from 10.00am. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions please e-mail the club and we will try and arrange another time.
