League Positions

For details on the current standings of the teams in the tennis leagues, including the latest information on the club championships, visit the Marshfield Tennis Club website.

Note on squads:

Players can participate in multiple teams within the same club championships, which means you might see a player's name listed in more than one team squad, such as for the Womens A & B teams at the Marshfield Tennis Club. However, once a player has competed in 3 matches for a higher team, they cannot participate in a lower team for the remainder of that season. Additionally, a player is not allowed to compete for two teams in the same tennis leagues during the same week; for instance, a player cannot play for both the Mens B team and the C team within the same week.

What's it all about and why would I be interested?

The tennis leagues at Marshfield Tennis Club are a fantastic way to engage in more competitive tennis against varied opposition while visiting different tennis clubs. Matches are typically friendly yet hard-fought, and historically, teams would enjoy a meal or tea afterwards, hosted by the home team. Although this practice has not been re-adopted since Covid, at Marshfield, teams often bring drinks and snacks to share with their opponents after a home match. There are nominal match fees to participate, which help cover the costs of lights and new tennis balls; these tennis balls then enter circulation for use during club nights and the club championships.

Matches generally occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights (with different teams playing on different nights) starting at 6:30 PM, and teams are expected to arrive by 6:15 PM to warm up, ensuring a timely start. Typically, matches last over 2 hours. If you're interested in joining the tennis leagues, please speak to one of the team captains or email the club to find out more.
